The Between Weathers team are delighted that the Shetland Islands have been chosen by top travel guide, Lonely Planet, as one of the top regions in the world to visit in their Best in Travel 2011. Shetland is both the inspiration and location behind the movie that starts filming next year.<\/p>\n

Lonely Planet\u2019s Tom Hall \u201cIts no surprise that we\u2019ve singled out a little-known but beautiful and rewarding corner of the UK as a must-see next year. The Shetland Islands have a huge amount to offer wildlife-watchers, outdoor enthusiasts and culture buffs\u201d<\/p>\n

The book singles Shetland, \u2018the last untamed corner of the UK\u2019 for special praise and we loved how they described the islands; \u201cThe light here is even more changeable than on mainland Scotland. Different parts of the island are variously illuminated at any given hour \u2013 the window for that perfect photo can be short. The setting is still uniquely Scottish, though, with deep, naked glens flanked by steep hills, twinkling, sky-blue lochs and, of course, sheep with no comprehension of the \u2018right of way\u2019 on roads\u201d.<\/p>\n
